Description

Buena Vista Social Club & "Ballroom Dancing" The film tells the stories of eleven protagonists of different social backgrounds from Mexico City, aged between 16 and 85, with only one thing in common, namely that of dancing, and music, form part of their everyday lives. Despite living under the most difficult and diverse of circumstance, this common interest gives them dignity, respect for each other, an identity and a focal point for living. The film is set against one of the world's biggest, most violent and perhaps most poverty stricken cities of the world. The film takes on the form of a musical portrait in pictures, a sensuous reflection of Mexico City, its zest for life and survival.
